ThinkVantageTools➙FactoryRecoveryDisks.Then,followtheinstructionsonthescreen.

Usingrecoverymedia

Attention:Whenyouuserecoverymediatorestoretheharddiskdrivetothefactory-defaultstate,allthe

ﬁlescurrentlyontheharddiskdrivewillbedeleted.Theseﬁleswillbereplacedbythefactory-defaultﬁles.

TouserecoverymediaontheWindows7operatingsystem,dothefollowing:

1.Dependingonthetypeofyourrecoverymedia,connectthebootUSBstoragedrivetothecomputer,or

insertthebootdiscintotheopticaldrive.

2.Turnonorrestartyourcomputer.

3.Whenyouseethelogoscreen,repeatedlypressandreleasetheF12key.TheStartupDeviceMenu

windowisdisplayed.

4.SelectthedesiredstartupdeviceandpressEnter.Therestoreprocessbegins.

5.Followtheinstructionsonthescreentocompletetheoperation.

Note:Afterrestoringyourcomputerharddiskdrivetothefactory-defaultstate,youmighthavetoreinstall

devicedriversforsomedevices.See“Reinstallingprogramsanddevicedrivers”onpage106.

Performingbackupandrecoveryoperations

TheRescueandRecoveryprogramenablesyoutobackupallyourharddiskdrivecontentsincluding

theoperatingsystem,dataﬁles,softwareprograms,andpersonalsettings.Youcanstorethebackupat

thefollowinglocations:

•TheRescueandRecoveryworkspace

•Thesecondaryharddiskdriveifasecondaryharddiskdriveisinstalledinyourcomputer

•AnexternalUSBharddiskdriveconnectedtoyourcomputer

•Anetworkdrive

•Recordablediscs(arecordableopticaldriveisrequiredforthisoption)

Afteryouhavecompletedthebackupoperation,youcanrestorepartsorwholeofthedataonthehard

diskdrive.

Performingabackupoperation

ToperformabackupoperationusingtheRescueandRecoveryprogramontheWindows7operating

system,dothefollowing:

1.FromtheWindowsdesktop,clickStart➙AllPrograms➙LenovoThinkVantageTools➙Enhanced

BackupandRestore.TheRescueandRecoveryprogramopens.

2.IntheRescueandRecoverymainwindow,clicktheLaunchadvancedRescueandRecoveryarrow.

3.ClickBackupyourharddriveandselectbackupoperationoptions.Then,followtheinstructionson

thescreentocompletethebackupoperation.
