•Iftheharddiskdriveisnotdefective,andonlythekeyboardbezelassemblyneedsareplacement:
1.Replacethekeyboardbezelassembly.
2.Afteryoureplacethekeyboardbezelassembly,startthecomputerandruntheSensorReplacementUtility
programbyclickingStart➙AllPrograms➙X-Rite➙PANTONEColorCalibrator➙SensorReplacement
Utility.
3.Ifyoudonothaveaccesstotheharddiskdrive,providethecustomerwithinformationonhowtorunthe
SensorReplacementUtility.
•Ifboththeharddiskdriveandthekeyboardbezelassemblyneedreplacements:
1.Beforeyoureplacethekeyboardbezelassembly,backupthecolorsensorcalibrationprofile
ECCM2SensorData.dattoanexternalmediadevicefromthedirectoryC:\ProgramData\X-Rite\ECCM-2.This
calibrationprofileisgeneratedafteryouusethecolorsensorforthefirsttime.
2.Ifyouareunabletobackupthecolorsensorcalibrationprofile,andifnoproblemwasreportedwiththecolor
sensor,followthestepsattheendofthistopictoremovethecolorsensorfromtheoriginalkeyboardbezel
assembly,andinstallthecolorsensortothenewkeyboardbezelassembly.
3.Replacetheharddiskdrive.See“1040Harddiskdriveorsolid-statedrive”onpage60.Thenreloadthe
operatingsystem.
4.IftheSensorReplacementUtilityprogramcannotbelaunchedsuccessfully,restorethecolor
sensorcalibrationprofileECCM2SensorData.dat,whichyouhavebackedupinstep1,tothedirectory
C:\ProgramData\X-Rite\ECCM-2.
5.Ifyoudidnotbackupthecalibrationprofileandthecustomerdoesnothaveabackupoftheirimage,you
willalsoneedtoreplacetheLCDpaneleveniftheLCDpanelisnotbroken.See“2020LCDpanel,hinges,
andLCDcable”onpage95
.
6.RuntheSensorReplacementUtilityprogramagainandfollowtheinstructionsonthescreentoperformthe
initialcolorcalibration,orprovideinstructionstothecustomertorunthisutility.
