Enablingordisablingadevice

Thissectionprovidesinformationonhowtoenableordisableuseraccesstothefollowingdevices:

USBSetupUsethisoptiontoenableordisableaUSBconnector.WhenaUSBconnectoris

disabled,thedeviceconnectedtotheUSBconnectorcannotbeused.

SATAControllerWhenthisoptionissettoDisable,alldevicesconnectedtotheSATAconnectors(such

asharddiskdrivesortheopticaldrive)aredisabledandcannotbeaccessed.

ExternalSATAPortWhenthisoptionissettoDisable,thedeviceconnectedtotheExternalSATA

connectorcannotbeaccessed.

Toenableordisableadevice,dothefollowing:

1.StarttheSetupUtilityprogram.See“StartingtheSetupUtilityprogram”onpage77.

2.FromtheSetupUtilityprogrammainmenu,selectDevices.

3.Dependingonthedeviceyouwanttoenableordisable,dooneofthefollowing:

•SelectUSBSetuptoenableordisableaUSBdevice.

•SelectATADrivesSetuptoenableordisableaninternalorexternalSATAdevice.

4.SelectthedesiredsettingsandpressEnter.

5.PressF10tosaveandexittheSetupUtilityprogram.See“ExitingfromtheSetupUtilityprogram”

onpage80.

Selectingastartupdevice

Ifyourserverdoesnotstartupfromadevicesuchasthediscorharddiskdriveasexpected,dooneofthe

followingtoselectthestartupdeviceofyourchoice.

Selectingatemporarystartupdevice

Thissectionprovidesinstructionsonhowtoselectatemporarystartupdevice.

Note:Notalldiscsandharddiskdrivesarebootable.

Toselectatemporarystartupdevice,dothefollowing:

1.Turnoffyourserver.

2.RepeatedlypressandreleasetheF12keywhenturningontheserver.WhenthePleaseselectboot

devicewindowdisplays,releasetheF12key.

3.SelectthedesiredstartupdeviceandpressEnter.Theserverwillstartupfromthedeviceyouselected.
