Yourcomputercannotconnecttothenetwork
Symptom:Yourcomputercannotconnecttothenetwork.
Actions:Ensurethat:
•Thecableisinstalledproperly.
ThenetworkcablemustbesecurelyconnectedtoboththeEthernetconnectorofyourcomputerand
theRJ45connectorofthehub.Themaximumallowabledistancefromthecomputertohubis100
meters.Ifthecableisconnectedandthedistanceiswithinacceptablelimitsbuttheproblempersists,try
adifferentcable.
•Thecableisinstalledproperly.
•Youareusingthecorrectdevicedriver.
OntheWindows7operatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.ClickStart➙ControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconrmation.
4.IfanexclamationmarkisdisplayednexttoanadapternameunderNetworkadapters,youmight
notbeusingthecorrectdriverorthedriverisnotenabled.Toupdatethedriver,right-clickthe
highlightedadapter.
5.ClickUpdateDriverSoftware,andthenfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.
OntheWindows8operatingsystem,dothefollowing:
1.OpenControlPanel.
2.ClickHardwareandSound.
3.ClickDeviceManager.Ifyouarepromptedforanadministratorpasswordorconrmation,typethe
passwordorprovideconrmation.
4.IfanexclamationmarkisdisplayednexttoanadapternameunderNetworkadapters,youmight
notbeusingthecorrectdriverorthedriverisnotenabled.Toupdatethedriver,right-clickthe
highlightedadapter.
5.ClickUpdateDriverSoftware,andthenfollowtheinstructionsonthescreen.
•Theswitchportandtheadapterhavethesameduplexsetting.
Ifyouconguredtheadapterforfullduplex,ensurethattheswitchportisalsoconguredforfullduplex.
Settingthewrongduplexmodecandegradeperformance,causedataloss,orresultinlostconnections.
•Youhaveinstalledallnetworkingsoftwarethatisnecessaryforyournetworkenvironment.
