connectivityassistantprogramforcreatingandmanaginglocationproles.Eachlocationprolestoresall
thenetworkandInternetcongurationsettingsneededforconnectingtoanetworkinfrastructurefrom
aspeciclocationsuchasahomeoranofce.

Ethernetconnection
YourcomputerhasoneEthernetconnector.Usingtheconnectorandawiredcable,youcanconnecttoyour
networkorabroadbandconnection,suchasdigitalsubscriberline(DSL)orcabletelevision(CATV).This
connectionenablesyoutodo1Gbpshalf-duplexorfull-duplexdatatransmission.
Wirelessconnection
Wirelesscommunicationisthetransferofdatawithouttheuseofcablesbutbymeansofradiowavesonly.
WirelessLAN
AwirelessLANcoversarelativelysmallgeographicarea,suchasanofcebuildingorahouse.Devices
basedonthe802.11standardscanconnecttothisnetwork.
Yourcomputercomeswithabuild-inwirelessnetworkcardandacongurationutilitytohelpyoumake
wirelessconnectionsandmonitorthestatusofyourconnection,sothatyoucanstayconnectedtoyour
networkwhileyouareintheofce,inameetingroom,orathome,withnoneedforawiredconnection.
Establishingawirelessconnection
Toestablishawirelessconnection,dothefollowing:
1.PressFn+F5toturnonthewirelessfeature.
2.ClickthewirelessnetworkconnectionstatusiconintheWindowsnoticationarea.Alistofavailable
wirelessnetworksisdisplayed.
3.Double-clickanetworktoconnecttoit.Providerequiredinformationifneeded.
Toconnecttodifferentwirelessnetworksindifferentlocations,usetheAccessConnectionsprogramorthe
LenovoSettingsprogramtomanagemultiplenetworkprolessothatthecomputerconnectstoanavailable
networkautomaticallywhenthelocationchanges.
