Note:Turnoffthecomputerandwait3to5minutestoletitcooldownbeforeremovingtherearcover.

Toreplacetheheat-sink:

Step1.Removeanymedia(disks,CDs,DVDsormemorycards)fromthedrives,shutdowntheoperating

system,andturnoffthecomputerandallattacheddevices.

Step2.Unplugallpowercordsfromelectricaloutlets.

Step3.Disconnectallcablesattachedtothecomputer.Thisincludespowercords,input/output(I/O)

cables,andanyothercablesthatareconnectedtothecomputer.Referto“Leftandrightview”

and“Rearview”forhelpwithlocatingthevariousconnectors.

Step4.Removetherearcover.Referto"Removingtherearcover".

Step5.Removethe4screwsthatsecuretheheat-sinkmoduletothemotherboard.

Step6.Liftuptheheat-sinktoremoveit.1

Attention:Placetheheat-sinkupsidedownonaatsurfacetopreventthermalgreasecontaminating

othercomponents.

Step7.Toinstallthenewheat-sink:

a.UseanalcoholpadtowipethethermalgreaseofftheCPU.

b.Lineupthenewheat-sinkmodulewiththemountingholesonthemotherboard.

c.Securethenewheat-sinktothemotherboardwiththescrews,makingsuretotthescrewsin

sequencefollowingthenumbersprintedonthenewheat-sink.

d.Usetheadhesivetapetosealthegapbetweentheheat-sinkandsystemfan.
