Troubleshootingtables
Usethetroubleshootingtablestondsolutionstoproblemsthathaveidentiablesymptoms.
Ifyouhavejustaddednewsoftwareoranewoptionaldeviceandtheserverisnotworking,completethe
followingstepsbeforeyouusethetroubleshootingtables:
1.Checktheoperatorinformationpanel.
2.Removethesoftwareordevicethatyoujustadded.
3.Reinstallthenewsoftwareornewdevice.
DVDdriveproblems
•FollowthesuggestedactionsintheorderinwhichtheyarelistedintheActioncolumnuntiltheproblemis
solved.
•SeethepartslistingintheHardwareMaintenanceManualtodeterminewhichcomponentsarecustomer
replaceableunits(CRUs)andwhichcomponentsareeldreplaceableunits(FRUs).
•Ifanactionstepisprecededby“(Trainedservicetechnicianonly),”thatstepmustbeperformedonlyby
atrainedservicetechnician.
SymptomAction
TheDVDdriveisnot
recognized.
1.Makesurethat:
•TheSATAchanneltowhichtheDVDdriveisattached(primaryorsecondary)
isenabledintheSetupUtilityprogram.
•Allcablesandjumpersareinstalledcorrectly.
•Thesignalcableandconnectorarenotdamagedandtheconnectorpins
arenotbent.
•ThecorrectdevicedriverisinstalledfortheDVDdrive.
2.Reseatthefollowingcomponents:
a.DVDdrive
b.DVDdrivecables
3.Replacethefollowingcomponentsoneatatime,intheordershown,restarting
theservereachtime:
a.DVDdrive
b.DVDdriveandcables
c.(Trainedservicetechnicianonly)Systemboard
ADVDisnotworkingcorrectly.
1.CleantheDVD.
2.ReseattheDVDdrive.
