Filerescue
Filerescueusedbeforerestore,promptstheuserforthebackupstoragelocationandthentheuserselects
abackup.TheRescueandRecoveryprogramwilldisplaythelesthatthecurrentuserisauthorizedto
access.Theuserthenselectstheles,folders,orbothtoberescued.Excludingthelocalharddisk,the
systemwilldisplayavailablelelocationswherethelescanberescued.Theuserwillneedtochoosea
destinationwithsufcientspacefortherescuedlesandthesystemrestoreles.
Operatingsystemandapplications
OperatingsystemandApplicationsgivestheusertheoptiontoselectabackupbeforethesystemdeletes
les.Filesdesignatedtobedeletedaredenedbytherulesintheregistry.Whenabackuphasbeen
selected,thesystemwillrestorethelesdenedbytheregistryfromtheselectedbackup.Thereare
optionsintheregistrylethatcanspecifyaprogramtorunbeforearestoreoperationorafterarestore
operation.SeetheThinkVantageTechnologiesXML/ADMSupplementformoreinformationaboutregistry
settingsandvalues.

Restoresystemdriveonly
Thisfunctionenablesyoutorestoreonlythesystemdrivetothestatewhenyoumakethelatestbackupof
thesystemdrive.Ifyouhavemultiplepartitionsonyourharddiskdrive,youhavetheoptiontorestoreonly
thesystemdriveandleavetheotherpartitionsintact.
Rejuvenation
Whenyouneedtorejuvenateyoursystem,theRescueandRecoveryprogramwilloptimizesystem
performancebytakinganewincrementalbackupandthendefragmentyourharddiskdrive.Therejuvenate
processhelpseliminateviruses,adware,andspyware,whilemaintainingyourcurrentsettingsanddata.The
rejuvenatefunctionishiddenontheuserinterfacestartingfromtheRescueandRecovery4.5program.You
canenablethefunctionandgettherejuvenateuserinterfacedisplayedbysettingtheADMle.
Torejuvenateyoursystem,dothefollowing:
1.EnabletherejuvenatefunctionandgettherejuvenateuserinterfacedisplayedbysettingtheADMle.

Recovery\Settings\Userinterface”onpage64

2.FromtheRescueandRecoveryinterface,clicktheRestoreyoursystemfromabackupicon.The
Restoreyoursystemscreenisdisplayed.
3.OntheRestoreyoursystemscreen,selectRejuvenateyoursystem.
4.Choosethedriveandbackupthatyouwanttousetorejuvenateyoursystembycompletingthe
followingprocedure:
a.Selecttheappropriatedrivefromthedrop-downmenuofavailabledrives.Backuplesonthe
selecteddrivearedisplayedbytheRescueandRecoveryinterface.
b.Selectthebackuplethatyouwanttousetorejuvenateyoursystem.
c.ClickNext.
d.Conrmthattheselectedbackupistheonethatyouwanttousetorejuvenateyoursystem,and
thenclickNexttobegintherestoreprocess.
