1.Removethecomputercover.See“Removingthecover”onpage78.
2.Removethefrontbezel.See“Removingthefrontbezel”onpage82.
3.Disconnectthepowerswitch/LEDassemblycablefromthesystemboard.See“Locatingpartsonthe
systemboard”onpage81.
4.Notethepowerswitch/LEDassemblycableroutingandthepositionofthetwoLEDs.
5.RemovetheswitchandtheLEDsfromthebezel.
6.Routethecableforthenewpowerswitch/LEDassemblythroughtheholeinthechassisandtothe
systemboard.
7.Installthenewpowerswitch/LEDassemblyintothebezel.MakesurethattheLEDsareinthecorrect
position.
8.Connectthepowerswitch/LEDcabletothesystemboard.
9.Reinstallthefrontbezel.
10.Goto“CompletingtheFRUreplacement”onpage138.

Yourcomputerhasaspecialtypeofmemorythatmaintainsthedate,time,andsettingsforbuilt-infeatures,
suchasserial-portassignments(conguration).Abatterykeepsthisinformationactivewhenyouturn
offthecomputer.
Thebatterynormallyrequiresnochargingormaintenancethroughoutitslife;however,nobatterylasts
forever.Ifthebatteryfails,thedate,time,andcongurationinformation(includingpasswords)arelost.An
errormessageisdisplayedwhenyouturnonthecomputer.
