Replacing the front fan assembly

This procedure describes how to remove and replace the front fan assembly.

1. Remove the computer cover. See “Removing the cover” on page 117.

2. Remove the front bezel. See “Removing and replacing the front bezel” on page

3. Note the routing of the front fan cable to the system board. Disconnect the

front fan assembly cable from the system board. See “System board connectors”

on page 116.

4. The fan assembly is mounted with four rubber mounts that protrude through

the front of the chassis. Remove the fan assembly by pulling the rubber mounts

back through the chassis.

5. Install the new front fan assembly by aligning the rubber mounts of the front

fan assembly with the holes on the chassis and push the rubber mounts

through the holes.
