ThischapterdescribeshowtousetheSetupUtilityprogramtoconguretheThinkServerRemote

ManagementModulefromtheun-conguredstatustotherunningstatus.Whenyouinstallthemoduleinto

yourserverforthersttime,themodulebydefaultwillsearchDHCPserveronthenetworktoautomatically

assigntheIPaddress,subnetmask,andgateway.ItisrecommendedthatyoumanuallysetastaticIP

addressintheSetupUtilityprogram.

TosetanIPaddress,dothefollowing:

1.Connecttheservertoaworkingelectricaloutletandturnontheserverbypressingthepowerbutton.

2.PressDelassoonasyouseethelogoscreen.TheSetupUtilityprogramopens.Ifyouhavesetan

administratorpassword,youmusttypetheadministratorpasswordtoaccessthefullSetupUtility

programmenu.WhenworkingwiththeSetupUtilityprogram,youmustusethekeyboard.Thekeys

usedtoperformvarioustasksaredisplayedatthebottomofeachscreen.

3.Fromthemainmenu,selectAdvanced➙IPMI2.0Conguration➙SetLANConguration➙Setup

LANConguration.RefertoTable1“SetupLANCongurationsubitems”onpage5forinformation

aboutthesubitems.

4.FromtheIPAddressSourceoption,youcanchooseSTATICorDHCPtosettheIPaddress.Itis

recommendedthatyoumanuallysetastaticIPaddress.

5.Whenyounishtheconguration,selectSaveLANCongurationtosavethesettings.
